Beware of the Foolish Woman

Image
NOTE - THIS ARTICLE WAS WRITTEN BY PASTOR ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO FOR ANOTHER CHRISTIAN JOURNAL WEBSITE. A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing. For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, To call passengers who go right on their ways: Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.  (Proverbs 9:13-18)      The book of Proverbs is full of examples of the kind of young people we should be as well as the kind of young people we should not be. Today I would like to introduce you to a woman that no godly young man should ever be interested in dating; a woman that no young lady should ever aspire to become. This woman is not the strange woman of Proverbs 7, but rather the foolish woman of Proverbs 9...

“Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?” (Galatians 4:16) Paul is writing to the church of Galatia here and he is asking them a very pointed but applicable question. He asks them if he has become their enemy because he tells them the truth. He sights earlier in the chapter that there used to be a deep love and affection between himself and the church of Galatia but this relationship has apparently been strained and Paul perceives that it is because he has told them a truth that they did not want to hear. I believe this question could be echoed to young people all over this world. It seems that the youth love to have a relationship with those in authority in their world until the authority tells them something that they do not wish to hear. Suddenly that authority who was your buddy now suddenly becomes your enemy because of what they have said. This should not be the case with teenagers who seek to please the Lord. We must understand that the author...
A VERSE FOR THOUGHT "For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth." II Corinthians 10:18 The word commendeth means to praise or to notice with regard to what one has done. We should not seek our own praise, but if we do well, the Lord will commend us!
